Prior to CityBeat, Hellman published SLAMM, a San Diego area publication which covered San Diego musicians for nearly 9 years. Hellman has also been a talent buyer for many community events, concert venues and nightclubs in San Diego, in addition to running a talent booking agency on the West Coast from 1984 until 1991. He is the founder of the annual San Diego Music Awards, an event which has donated nearly 1100 Baby Taylor Guitars to San Diego County elementary schools since 1998. |
